I thought Paulie looked just as good, if not even better in the first fight. The way he came off jabbing and moving in and out in the first few rounds.

i say it was the ring size. the bigger ring gave paulie a lot more room to move and make diaz miss. paulie's footwork neutralized diaz's aggressiveness which is what gave him the edge in the previous fight imo. diaz couldn't catch paulie aside from the one flurry he made in one of the middle rounds because paulie was much more elusive this time.

How about you give credit to the winner and not excuses for the loser?
Paulie is smart and made adjustments, they were not in crooked Texas, The ring was bigger and Paulie fought like he had nothing to lose while Diaz had much to lose.

But both fighters can make adjustments. Or are you saying Diaz is too ****** to make adjustments?

The reason you dont get it is because you have never been closer than a fan to boxing , you can be in the zone on the night in one fight and then a little flat in another , many of you fellas talk like everything is equal all of the time and its just not like that , you would be surprised just how many fighters turn up not quite right .

Vasquez and Marquez looked like equals in their 3 fights even if Marquez lost 2 of those fights.

                  amen...quoted for truth.

but to answer the ts' question i'd have to say the reason paulie looked so much better from the first fight is his speed. i think we all know that if diaz cant slow paulie down then he wont be able to get to him. paulie fought smart...building upon what he did in the first fight. he used the ring well...slipping, ducking shots all night...even stood his ground for awhile.

diaz would have ate paulie up if paulie had decided to go toe to toe because lets face it...if one guy keeps throwing shot after shot and it isnt very damaging then the other fighter (diaz in this case) can walk right past all the punches...

thats why paule looked so much better...he used the ring, and his speed and boxed more...when he has space to work paulie is tough to beat for anyone...on the inside not so much (proof is the hatton fight).

                    Here's the way it works.

                    Fighter A beats Fighter B.

Fighter B makes adjustments and beats Fighter A.

What kind of adjustments could Fighter A have made? None because he won the first time using his first tactics and in the fight Fighter B brought a different game plan. You can't adjust until you've seen the tactics.
