I've met both Diaz and Ricky Hatton, stood next to them, had pictures taken, shot the **** etc... There is no reason Diaz should be fighting at the weight Hatton was best at.

Diaz is not a 140 lb fighter, just on looks alone he is 2 classes smaller than Hatton. It might not be easy for him to make 130 but he can do it.

Fighting at 130 would be great for him.

can Diaz make 130, sure, but

there is no money for Diaz at 130 (compared to 135), it's 135.

If Diaz is going to fight one of the 130 guys, he'll will wait for them to come up to 35 to fight him.

130 is open and Juan's chin would be better there. If they just now talkin bout that move down, I don't see it happenin. 135 is his proper division. I'm sure his team knows that, but after a 2nd disappointment against Paulie, they just blowin smoke.
Well actually he went up because Paulie had a good name and thought it would a good tune up I guess....

They saw that he wasnt great under pressure, and backing up like he did against NGoudjo, Hatto, and others....

What 138 was telling was they thought that Paulie would be an easier fight, and that with the pressure and amount of punches Juan threw, that Paulie would just back up get flustered and lose by DC....

Well that is what happened the first fight, but he didnt look great that fight either..... Then in the rematch it was just a bad decision to go back up even higher....

it was a bad idea for him to try and move to 140, he looked way smaller than Paulie in the ring

He is quite flabby at 140 so he should make 130 with discipline. But weight notwithstanding, I think we've already seen the best Juan Diaz. He has lost his fire and intensity and I don't think it's coming back. Something has changed with him and he simply can't give his usual excellent effort anymore. He's worn down or perhaps simply not as hungry anymore or a combination thereof. He's made money, been a champions and still has education on his mind. And I don't think he can go through a fight anymore without cutting. I think he should retire, go to law school and move on.

Diaz has even less power at 140, so it made no sense to go up.

Diaz is literally guaranteed 500K for a fight... He made a million for NAte, a million for Paulie 1, and 750K for the rematch....

They are not gonna put hi in there with a big name fighter just yet...

IMO he will fight in Houston against a decent NAME fighter, that isnt too much of a threat, beat him, build his name back up, and in one or two fights, he will a big name fighter for one more big payday/ belt..... If he wins, he continues on, if he loses, he retires...

I am thinking he is on the downside of his career anyway....

I think before his camp was thinking all money. What was the biggest money fight. Now I think it's a crucial period in his career where he needs to change some things if he wants to get to the same level as before. There are some real tough guys at 135 that I don't think his style matches well against. Valero is so strong and Funeka would be hell for him.

At 130 he's so much stronger. He can be the aggressive face first fighter that out works and out wills his opponents. That won't work at 140 and it only works at 135 against certain guys. It just so happens in 2006-2007 guys like an old Freitas and two average Diaz's were title holders. Now 135 is a lot more game and he might be 3rd or 4th fiddle. I don't see Diaz beating Guzman, Funeka, or Marquez in a rematch, and Valero is strong enough to win a brawl.

Now this guys knows his ****, and gets a good amount of info, but sometimes he gets confused.... I am thinking 135, but he said and was very adamant about 130.... We'll wait and see...
if he can get down to 130 he should do it.
