It's actually pretty sad. 6 months away and he'll be no where near where he was just prior to getting locked up, meaning he's going to have to work his ass off in order to get back to that place, physically & mentally. He's going to need at least 2-3 fights before fighting any belt holders.
He was ready, imo, to take on anyone at 154. Sure he might have lost to Martinez or Paul Williams, but that was his peak. He would have gave anyone a good fight.
Now? Who the hell knows. Mentally he has to be broken, one would think, physically there is no telling what type of shape he's in...
And that was part of what made him James Kirkland - his mental toughness, determination & intensity in the ring. If he lost any of that while in prison, he'll never be the same fighter cuz his style alone is very beatable.
Kirkland is the most dangerous guy going. I like Martinez and Angulo a lot but I think he beats them both as well as Paul Williams provided he gets back to pre prison form. He's young enough to come all the way back.
