He is looking a bit slower. I think the main reason is that he does not look that impressive when he is the aggressor. VK is a counter puncher, that is his bread & butter, what he is most effective doing.

kevin johnson was quick in defense and made vitali look slow and cumbersome. maybe fathertime is catching up to the 38 year old and the hayemaker will catch him at the right time.

Its because Arreola is much easier to hit than Johnson, who wasn't interested in a real fight apparently...
