    HBO vs. Showtime. . .

Great night of boxing tonight, what a an excellent way to close the year by both networks. In your estimation who had the better year HBO or Showtime?
I mean we were treated to some classics. HBO of course had the Mosley shalacking of Margarito, Berto/Collazo, Marquez/Diaz, Williams/Martinez, all of which were classic fights. Showtime I thought presented itself rather adequately this year with Agbeko/Perez, Dirrell/Frock, Ward/Kessler. . .Is Showtime catching up to HBO in your opinion? There broadcasts are solid and from what I heard today, outside of their Super Six tourney they have DeMarco/Valero on tap for Feb not to mention Vasquez/Marquez IV in May. Kudos to Showtime for stepping up and being much more creative this year, I give them boxing network of the year.

I believe Showtime may be finaly catching HBO, especially off the strength of the Super Six tournament. HBO needs to get tougher with it's fighters and quit letting them pick easier opponents. They need to ask themselfs "Who's in charge here?" When they take control of that they will be back on top.

I think HBO will be on top over SHOWTIME forever. I just think HBO always gets the top fighters.

While that may be true, HBO has kind fallen asleep at the wheel recently. I mean buying the Dawson/Tarver rematch WTF was that? Even the Diaz/Malignaggi fight was a head scratcher for me. HBO's summer schedule went up in flames thanks to David Haye bitching out of his fight with Wlad and Vitali and then Mayweather's shoulder injury, and John's flu vs Juarez. . .HBO needs to get a lot more creative because SHOWTIME with a smaller budget has made things happen by thinking outside the box.
