I hope. I actually hope he gets a ban for a year for a disgraceful performance like that.

      You're right.

I've lost respect for him after that garbage performance. He wasn't trying to win, just to survive.

I felt sorry for Vitali, the man wanted to put on a show for the fans yet that coward was just plain negative.
He promised his daughter he would be world champ,he should be ashamed for not even tryin.

I don't understand what fighters see in lasting 12 rounds for moral respect. If you are getting your ass beat for 12 rounds it isn't gonna get you more paydays than say you get blasted out in 6. Both are awful defeats and you will not be rewarded by just running from the inevitable. I didn't see the fight but I am sure I will be disgusted by it. Refs should truly consider dq'ing a guy if all he is doing is running away. I was happy when they stopped the Cotto/Pac fight not only for Miguels future but that he was just making himself look bad by back pedaling.

            Good post.

When a boxer just tries to survive and doesn't try to win, it makes for a dull fight. Losing a decision in the way Johnson did today is in a way worse than being KOed.

Vitali hit Johnson clean many times so please dont pretend like Johnson is this amzaing defensive guru.

A better Heavyweight would have finished that american meatball. Id like to see Tua get in the ring with him.

great post..i mentioned all of the above in an earlier thread...he should have been DQ'd for inactivity and he will NEVER appear on a proper promotion again.

Not willing to engage goes against the very essence of prize fighting.

I know it takes skill to not take a lot of punishment against a world class heavyweight like Vitali but not trying to win is just a no-no in sport. You don't do it. Even if you have no chance.

I know it's easy for us to say these kind of things as we weren't in the ring with VK but at the top-end of boxing, which Kevin Johnson is at, he is obliged to show ambition. He's not a guy with a losing record drafted in to give an undefeated prospect some rounds. He's fighting for the championship of the world.

Between Arreola and this guy, even the Klit lovers must accept that the heavyweight division needs Haye. He gets himself in shape, can sell a fight and has talent.

The only interesting fighters in the division aside from the Klits is Haye and Tua, who are in and around championship contention.
