I believe that any real fan of the sport appreciates all three of those warriors i.e. Morales, MAB and Pacman. They are (IMO)
this generation's answer to SRL, Hag, and Hearns.
I'm trying to give you every benefit of the doubt but have a tough time taking serious anyone who would compare Roid to Ali.
Ali, who fought EVERYBODY that was available with NO hesitation is in a different catagory than Roy who "negotiated" his way out of many fights thus robbing the fans of an opportunity to rate him honestly.
Don't pull that old-timey BS that no fighter can be compared to "this" fighter. That's absurd. No one was comparing accomplishments. They fought at different weights in different eras.
My point is (now pay close attention) that you cannot detract from Roy's legacy based on his career-ending performances if you cannot detract from Ali's legacy after being abused by Berbick, Spinks, and Holmes.

In a way you can because Jones's losses revealed a faulty chin that had been cleverly hidden by his quick reflexes and defensive skill. When Jones slowed down we learned something about his chin, and so yes his legacy was tarnished significantly. I am absolutely certain that if Jones on his very best day at 168 took that punch from Tarver he would have been KO'ed. The thing is, in his prime he wouldn't have been hit by that punch. Still, a lack of a solid chin is something Roy will always be accused of.

Get it?
I agree. Many great fighters ended their careers on a bad note. Some fighters have a high peak in their career, and it lasts a shorter period of time. Some fighters don't peak quite as high, but seem to be able to keep going for years. I'm not really sure which of the two is better. They both exemplify different qualities. But in the end, the vast majority of champions begin to lose and look mediocre. We don't want to hold Holyfield's 2000s contests against his great fights in the 90s, do we?

They may have different styles and skill levels, but I fully agree with your observation

I'm not sure how having a bad chin can tarnish a legacy, if you're so insanely skilled in the ring that you rarely get hit. You can't judge a boxers greatness in the number of punches they can take before being knocked out. That could be part of it, depending on the fighter, but that shouldn't be the benchmark for everyone.
You can't debate with a Roy lover. You are so blinded by your ****-****** fantacies that you can't see the truth.
Now pay close attention:
You ABSOLUTELY can't draw parallels between an aging Ali being beating by some MUCH younger men after a great career of facing EVERYONE available and ROID being EXPOSED by men his own age (or older) after running out of excuses for not fighting guys that could give a competitive effort.
GET IT????
Your boy's career was largely about smoke and mirrors.

Wow...if anyone is exposed, it is you. You obviously dislike Jones a lot and using terms like "****-******" and "Roy-lover" show this your extreme position. Therefore, anything you say about Roy should be expected to be negative. When Roy loses past his prime after losing lots of muscle mass, you say he was exposed. When Ali went life and death with a fighter with 7 fights you say it's ok, he was aging.
Roy was one of the best of all time..He may not have had a good chin..but he was so awesome that he really didnt need one..hes the only guy I have ever seen that can just leap and attack with a uppercut if he wanted..its just that with time and some extra weight he got a little slower and that non traditional style of his was catching up with him..I think if he goes to a more traditional style of fighting using the jab and good movement he can still capture gold. If he uses the jab he can set up his awesome hooks ...and knock some people out.
