This is great, now we don't have to hear about how he beat Vitali 30 years ago anymore.

      Yes...

Maskaev wanted the final big payday against Vitali, and like Jones and Toney he probably fooled himself into believing he was still in his prime.

Now we all need to wonder why the WBC has had him as Vitali's mandatory. This shows that sanctioning body is a joke.

his fights with rahman were classics but it's time to hang 'em up old man. I would have dreaded watching him fight a klit

Maskaev is done, and maybe its time for this Aquilera to fight a solid guy! They should match him with an upcomming fighter, a fight against Solis would make sence or against Boytsov.

He is 40 year old, and he was coming in with 6 losses by KO. Cant say its a big surprise.

Aguilera was outboxed pretty one-sidedly two fights earlier by a slick southpaw named Darrel Madison with three knockouts. For Aguilera to come back and beat a guy like Maskaev shows A) great resolve and B) great management to get him the fight, especially since there were more qualified fighters out there.
