Aaron Pryor was worthless

The man was lightning quick and powerful...Hell of a fighter, he became attracted to the "evil" things most people do when they grow up in the ****** and have no guidance but a bunch of blood sucking leeches. (Pryor was the mini-Tyson in that department)

He had all of the skills and I would loved to have him get it on with Meldrick Taylor with both of them in their primes...Imagine the combinations flying in that one?

Knocking Arguello out makes anybody great and he did it twice!!!
With the Hawks skills it is hard to swallow that he is worthless. He was a great fighter.

But, today, Aaron Pryor has turned his life around. He's not doin drugs anymore. I don't think he's as rich as he once was either....but I'm not sure.

Aaron lives comfortably with his wife in Cincy...He isnt super rich neither is he super poor but has above ends meet. He is just an average guy these days...Very good man, I met him and Rubin Carter (hold your responses) last year when they spoke at my school and Aaron invited me to show him around and get some coffee and talk and I have kept in talks with his wife every now and then....Despite his negatives, I have the highest respect for HAWK TIME!

Your point is well taken, but my point is that he wasted it as well. Sometimes the difference betwween a great fighter and a good fighter is such a small line. He probably wsa as talented as Hearns or Leanord, but he wasted it. That's his fault not ours. He could have fought Leanord, or HEarns, or Curry, but he chose crack. I hope it was worth it. Hearns never turned to crack, neither did Hagler, Pryor wasted his talent, simple as that. Of course he had talent, no one disputes that. But just like Paul Newman's character was told in the Hustler: jackie Gleason's character 'Minnestot Fats' had more character in his small finger than 'fast eddie' had in his whole body. Same can be said for Pryor, he had no character.

when fighters, or anyone else for that matter, gets to the top, not many of them can avoid the the temptations of partying - the drugs, the drugs, the drugs, and the hollywood sluts ( ohhh, the hollywood sluts )...pernell whitaker got burned out from partying too...aaaron was a great fighter ( without THE MIXTURE )

Perhaps he never really met his full potential but the fights he had in his career leaves enough. Unfortunately he couldnt control his addiction like Leonard could (Leonard was still probably is a large coke head).

I just cant hate on the man for his superior speed and power as well as the grit he brought to the ring. All 39 of his fights were explosive and a lot of his fights were never disputed he just knocked guys out and thats what I like.

He got caught up in a time when partying and drugs were used heavily if you were a superstar or your average person...Everyone was addicted to something and he had the money to purchase the amount to feel his addiction and Pryor NEVER had any guidance throughout his whole career.

If it wasnt for his wife Frankie, he probably would have been dead years ago.
