Why is there no media coverage of major fights in Canada? Here in Canada they advertise UFC everywhere but never boxing. When Bute fought 2 weeks ago there was a blackout in Canada. We have HBO in Canada and we get all the other HBO fights live but for whatever reason we did'nt get the Bute-Andrade fight. When I opened the news paper the next day there was'nt anything about the Bute fight. There still has'nt been anything about the Bute fight and it has'nt been televised. This is sad because we as Canadians should be able to watch these fights. They wonder why boxing is dying and it's because they are'nt trying to build a fan base with these fighters.
Diaconu-Pascal 1 should've been on free television but it was'nt I had to download it. This weekend is the same. There is nothing about the fight on tv or in the paper. The fight itself is'nt on tv or PPV. Instead we get UFC continuously shoved down our throats daily. It's almost as if they are trying to brain wash us.
I see Dana White on my TV daily. The UFC made some deal with our only cable provider SHAW. Now when I press my guide to see whats on all that comes up is UFC ad's and short cuts to order they're PPV's. When ever there is boxing on they screw with the times so that even if you did know it was on you would miss it. I miss most of the fights HBO and SHOWTIME have been putting on live do to this reason. It's not that they will just change the times but they won't even put the fight in the tv listing until an hour or 2 before the fight. This is with every boxing match there is all year. I've been keeping track and it's literally been with every fight. When it comes to UFC though there is tons of advertisement and the times are never wrong. My point is that if the hardcore fan has a hard time finding the fights how will a casual veiwer ever find them?
