Cotto's career peak has ended even before it has started..

    if someone would ask you:

"where was the peak of cotto's career?"
"where was cotto at his best?"

    what would be your answer?

    the mosley fight?the judah fight?

after the margarito fight..Cotto was 27..
people then said, he still has a bright future ahead of him..
    he can still grow..and improve..
    more opportunities will soon arrive..

and then we saw what happened..

    now,

    he's near retirement...

To many tough fights, over a short period of time. I think it was the Margarito fight which really derailed Cottos career, I also think that Margarito used plaster in that fight as well.

I think we've seen the best Miguel Cotto.

But let's see how he comes back

Cotto's been in and beaten about a dozen genuine quality boxers from the likes of Ricardo Torres to Shane Mosley, they're all very good fighters. He then lost a very controversial fight against a persistant (loaded gloves or not) Antonio Margarito and managed to outbox him for half of the fight before being beaten in the fight of the year. Since then he came back, dispatched of an overmatched Michael Jennings and went in with another very solid fighter in Joshua Clottey and won. Then he lost to Manny Pacquiao (would most likely have lasted the difference) and has lasted the longest against Pacman since his recent burst through the weights. Now he's contemplating the final spell of a fantastic career after being beaten by the best fighter around at the moment.. nothing wrong with that, there's not much point Miguel continuing for much longer now.

I think Cotto was at his best around the time of the Mosley/Margarito fights...

Yeah, that's true. I'd say the Mosley fight.

But remember at 140 he was outstanding.

cotto was at his best when he fought mosley

he might still be able to get close to that state if he hires a new trainer!!

The Mosley fight was Cotto at his full peak.
