Both are useful, but the are different. Adblock & Flashblock are good for n00bz, because NoScript is slightly more advanced and is better when it's been set up properly. Right out of the box, it can be annoying for people who haven't used it before, but it is one of the best extensions and is worth getting used to.

So, to keep it simple.... Install Firefox, install Flashblock, install Adblock and make sure to subscribed to a Blocklist. This should keep pretty much all of the nasties out.

      I don't think that's true. I don't use any anti-spyware and haven't used anti-virus since 2002. A well set up browser can't be penetrated easily.

Firefox with the following extensions is like Fort Knox.

      Adblock Plus
      BetterPrivacy
      Flashblock
      NoScript
      SafeCache
      Targetted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out (TACO)

Nothing on BoxingScene is getting through those. If you want extra protection on top of that, use a good software firewall (especially if your router doesn't have a hardware firewall built in), and use PeerGuardian 2 (subscribe to the ad blocking and spyware blocking lists).

I will have a look at my firefox setting tonight, I updated them when I got it back after the last attack.

If TACO isn't installed it won't update. If it is installed and you still get no update, there probably isn't one available.

I don't update automatically anyway, the reason why is because many extensions break because they are not compatible with newer versions of FF. I use quite a few old extensions, and those will break unless you use another extension called Nightly Tester Tools which forces compatibility between old extensions and newer FF versions. It must be Nightly Tester Tools 1.0.4 only, though.

BTW, TACO isn't vital. The best things to use are still Adblock Plus, Flashblock and NoScript. Those are the most useful ones.

Web of Trust is really useful too.

Here's Nightly Tester Tools v1.0.4 for anyone who wants it. I modified this version to be compatible with anything up to Firefox v10. It's currently on v3, so you have a few years left!

              http://www.**********.com/?d=6F0TN4X4

It's simple to use. Download the file, drop it into an open FF window to install. Restart FF. If you're trying to install an outdated extension, you will be asked if you want to force compatibility using Nightly Tester Tools. Check the box to do this, restart FF, and you're done.

One of the best extensions ever. NTT is used by extension developers to test out their work. It's never failed to make an old extension compatible in all the years I've been using it.

Same here. I wouldn't risk effing my home computer up on this site.

I've already had to reformat my work computer once because of this site.
