Pavlik looks like he might be having a bit of difficulty making weight, he didn't have much time to get down to 160 and he's wearing one of those rubber suits, always a sign that a fighter wants to lose weight as quickly as possible.Comment

this sucks. Pavlik actually looks like he spent a year in a crackhouse. This is probably going to show up in performances.Youngstown,Ohio - World Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik, Youngstown, Ohio hits the double-ended bag under the watchful eye of trainer Jack Loew during training Wednesday in Youngstown,Ohio for his upcoming World Middleweight Championship against the WBC No. 3-rated middleweight contender Miguel Espino, Los Angeles, Calif., Saturday, December 19 at Beeghly Center at Youngstown State University. same thoughts exactly. hard to watch Pavlik these days, that's why i'm hoping he comes back strong. if he looks good in Jan, i think he has a good shot of knocking Williams out when they meet. i don't know how well he would do against any of the supers, he doesnt seem to be as well rounded as the bunch @ 168. still, in a way i like Pavlik when he is the underdog, and when he has people counting him out. he's a pretty tough guy and when he has something to prove, i think he could be dangerous for anyone.I still had a lot of respect and admiration for Pavlik at the start of the year - even after the Hopkins loss and the lacklustre outing against Rubio - but the whole Mora/Williams saga really eroded all that for me, and has seemed to have turned him into a running joke in boxing. It's all good and well for people to poke fun, but I just find it saddening that it's all gone so downhill.
So, whilst he's perfectly entitled to make his money and progress with his career, he hasn't gone about it in the best way. Him and his team could've chosen to handle things better in spite of the illness, such as dropping the titles and trying to regain them when they're absolutely sure that his hand has healed - rather than keep making fights and pulling out suddenly. Fighting another tune-up doesn't help his cause, either.
I still like the guy and want him to bounce back, but I can understand the joking around. It's very easy.Comment
