This is a complete lie from this MMGAY apologist here. There were many threads created in the lead-up to this event on various MMGAY forums discussing which event will atract the greatest ppv buyrate.

Message board Threads don't equal media.

If you spent a little time and looked at the 103 coverage, you'd see that no one in the MMA media believed that it would outsell JMM/FM once the match was placed at that date.

And Iole don't count because he sucks Dana White's ****.

Just like it did on boxing forums.... Like i've said, don't compare entire industry on one night of fights.

Overall, MMA fights always generate solid PPV buys (and huge number of buys when top stars are fighting), while boxing needs a really big fight to even get on PPV, and even bigger name to sell in really high numbers (like Floyd/JMM or Pacquiao/Cotto).

Boxing has few stars that sell PPV's, while UFC sells PPV's by it's name alone.

MMA outsells itself basically. It floods the market with a fight every week, doesn't build up single fighters to be mega stars like boxing does. What you get is 50+ "events" a year with no one of mention on those cards.

So while they may outsell overall the PPV events boxing offers, it's because they have 50+ fights a year, and boxing has about 5. They will never outsell something like Pac - Mayweather.

MMA ain't got nothing on boxing...

Their biggest event did about 1 mill, and that was because of Brock Lesnar bringing in wresting fans...
