And what an egotistical jackass. "It took me 8 years to make Manny what he is". Yeah Roach, like Manny had nothing to do with it.

This mumbling jackass is quickly becoming one of my least favorite people in boxing.........
You mean like Floyd Mayweather Sr. or Roger Mayweather.

Hehe jk, I kinda like Roger though, he is funny as hell hehe
Even Freddie Roach's brother, Pepper said so hehe.

        exactly!

Boxing is the only sport I can think of where certain trainers try and take all the credit. You dont see AI's coach on sportscenter talking about how "he made him what he is". You dont see Peyton Manning's coach inferring that Peyton would be nothing without him. And I'd bet 99.9% of the world has no idea whatsoever who Barry Bonds' batting coach is.

And why is that? Because MOST coaches and trainers have the respect to understand that ultimately the ATHLETE is the one deserving of the credit.

Roach is just a big mouth blowhard who vastly overstates his own importance. People seem to forget that Manny was ALREADY a world champion when he started working with Roach. And so Roach, over an 8 year period, got Manny to throw the right hand more. Wow. I'm overwhelmed.

Roach is just hyping the fight. And he did more to Pac than just a right hand. He should get credit. I mean ... just look at Pac fights before the Ledwaba match, no real technique just brawling and hoping that his strong left will land. Pac is a world champion before Roach got him but he only landed that left and bam he got Sasakul out. Before that left, you can argue that pac lost all the rounds. Sasakul schooled him that night. Pac just got lucky.

I'm not saying that Roach doesnt deserve ANY credit at all, but let's be honest. Didnt you like the humble quiet reserved Roach alot better than this big mouth version who just goes around telling everyone how important he is?

Great post, I have previously ask who Pacquiao's former trainer was before Roach got him on here and NO-ONE knew who he was (With the way people nuthug Pac) you would thought the reply to my thread would be a quick one, until someone came forward with an answer almost a day later.

Trainers dont get hit in the ring and they need to pipe down a bit and let the fighter take all the glory and defeat instead of the trainers trying to hug the light.

I agree Roach talks a too much. But I wonder if it is his fault or because he keeps on getting interviewd.

He is one of the greatest trainers in history fool. It's good that he has said this as it keeps khan grounded if he isn't already and will give him extra determination to try and get anywhere near Manny's level.

No sh** Freddie, Khan is an inexperienced 22 year old. Pac is at the top approaching boxing immortality.
