I once saw a thread on the BBC forum for people to list their top ten P4P fighers of all time. And someone with Roy Jones in theirs said "why do you have Muhammad Ali in your list?"
Exactly. I don't "hate" Joe. It's just that MOST of his fans are the type you just described that bother you about Roy. It's even more insane when applied to Joe.

Glad you made my point for me. I do not think you hate Roy, that was my teasing you.

See, I don't witness many people saying that Joe is so high up in the potential ATG list that he could even conceivably be No.1, all time (or maybe there are and I'm fortunate enough not to have read them).

Admittedly this has fallen off in recent years, but there was a time when Roy was regarded as the greatest fighter in the history of the planet for TKOing Clinton Woods.

Living in the past my man :-) Plenty of people call Joe a top ATG. For what? I don't know.

        Greater than Roy? Okay.

Overrate his win over Roy? Yup.

Roy was in his prime when he fought Joe. And Joe was pretty past it, too, as prime = chronological age.

I dunno why these kids have the need to call modern fighters ATGs all the time though. It's like a disease or something.

            your attempt is laughable
No it's not. He has a point. It's been already debated? Yes.

Joe beat a Prime Roy. Roy's other losses were one punch flukes. Joe pummeled him for the full 12.

              Real talk.

True, often times shot to **** 39 year old fighters are prime. That's always the case.

Also beating the ruined corpse of Trinidad who is coming off a (2nd? 3rd?) retirement is a good-->great win.

                Just ask KrisSilver.

Joe was also ancient having had wars with David Starie and Mario Veit that took their toll on him for that fight.

ALL in ALL, ATG performance that night. Roy is lucky to be alive.

The Trinidad stuff gets me... the guy looked like a little kid in there with Roy, and even Royston's glass was having his peashooter shots bounce off him at LHW.

But of course, he could **** at welter, so he's a "puncher" and for me suggesting it meant anything I was a "bias Brit".

Can you feel my pain, Pisspac? From Bad Ajamu onwards I'm saying that Royston's victories don't mean **** and all of them point to him being shot... each time I'm a "bias brit". Then when Calzaghe beats him with ease (for 11 rounds anyway) I learn that I said that Roy was still in his prime because I'm a "bias brit"

i think its too early to say whether roy is shot or not. another 3 to 4 knockout losses should determine that. lets just wait and find out.
