I don't hate him, but he went down quite a bit in my estimation after that Martinez fight. The guy's got a good beard on him to take all those flush shots (plus Margarito's), but he's shown how limited he can be when the opponent is a tricky southpaw.

Things need to be re-evaluated in the PDub camp.

That fight said a lot more about Martinez to all of us than anything else.. I think Martinez would have beaten almost anyone around his weight class that night.

I won't disagree with that for a second. Martinez went up hugely in my view and I have nothing but respect for him as a champion and a fighter, but I also think Williams showcased a lot of his own flaws that can be applied to other future fights (hell, I'm thinking of taking down my sigpic because after that fight it looks as though Pacquiao would make him look silly).

It's a combo of Pavlik, Cotto, and Pac stans that jock ride certain fighters instead of being overall fans of the sport. The fighters they root for are immune to criticism when people say they struggled with an opponent or got a gift decision. Williams is pretty much getting ganged up on by fanatics who hate him. Some of the Euro posters hate Paul Williams too.
