Latino fighters and their prominent middle names

We see guys like Miguel Angel Cotto, Sergio Gabriel Martinez, Marcos Rene Maidana, etc. using their middle names as part of the whole thing. However, non-Latino fighters just use their first and last name - you'd never hear them announce "Ricky John Hatton", "Mike Gerard Tyson" or "Manny Dapidran Pacquiao".

Why do the Latinos have this thing about making the middle name so prominent? It seems so 'extra'.

there is alot that i could post about this, but most of it is based on the evolution of latin names and how it branched out into what is now spanish and italian culture, its really a european thing that latinos adopted. for instance, with my real name i have 4 names 3 of them spanish with the exception of my last name, its just a biproduct of what was adopted from the conquistidors.

Ah, so it's really a serious thing for Latino folks and not just a way of trying to be 'extra'. That's cool. It makes them sound unique when there's 3 parts to a name that get announced.

I guess it's something cultural, like the way married latin women keep their single last name. But you got a point because I don't even know why it's so mentioned in boxing, usually the american boxers or with english related names make things easy like than their name like (Mike) Tyson, (Tim) Bradley etc etc. On the other hand latinos complicate their names adding the middle name.
