I am inclined to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Sure, the manner of his defeat to Maidana was far from satisfactory, but he is a young talented fighter who could build himself up again and realise the potential he showed up until that point.

I'll put it down to a misjudgement, but he will have the eyes of the boxing world on him now until the day he retires, and any repeat of the end of the Maidana fight will pretty much end his career anyway.

Victor needs to make a statement in this bout...and he needs to keep winning impressively to put that whole 'quitting' episode behind him

Antonio Diaz is a hardnosed rugged Mexican from Cali.

        Should be a good test.

I’m pretty sure HBO is going to do their part in over playing his post fight comments he’s going to have to do his part in proving them otherwise by beating this dude as one sided as possible.

            Peace.

He's fighting Antonio Diaz, Julio's brother. Thats a very solid comeback fight and Diaz should test him some. He's much more experinced and I wouldnt be shocked if we saw an upset or a tough match

Diaz is as rugged a test as they come. Should be a good scrap. Ortiz is young and can come back from his embarrassment. People love come back stories.

i think he derserves another chance,he is still young and ill follow him but i get your point about a true champ either having it or not and i think if he gets a beat down again,he will quit for good, hope im wrong because he seems like a good kid with good skills

larry my man who the **** is that in your avatar? bwahahahaahhaa damn

                    and back to the thread

Ortiz should be allowed another chance to show what he can

however, to say the same ole rigor morale every Mexican fighter says

"I will die in the ring I will go out on a shield my background blah blah blah"

then kind of shrug his shoulders as if this were tennis and he got a blister on his foot does not endear him to the fans he is supposed to draw in

the amount of boos rained down on him at Staples was something to behold. Usually boos are light hearted or because your fighter lost and you are booing the victor

the crowd turned really angry towards Ortiz

he has a lot of ground to cover

if Diaz has any legs left he will give Ortiz a tough test for his first fight back from quitting

but he is so shop worn I have my doubts
