What up big homie?I see that all the time also. These Boxing fans that make these videos on Youtube predicting that Mayweather will win usually start the conversation with, "I know alot of Pacquiao fans are gonna send me alot of crazy emails, but I believe Mayweather will win because so and so". It's sad and funny at the same time.Comment

Killa,reported for racism and bigotry.
in any case, we have a 16-year old kid who whipped american chess grandmaster gata kamsky in a world tourney last month.
we also have an old guy who has schooled the best billiards players that america has to offer.
fc barcelona's all time top goalscorer was a filipino.
With all due respect, I think you may be missing the point. I think he is just saying that for a country of 100 million people (nearly), that the philippines has not had the sporting history one might expect. A few boxers. a few other athletes scattered around.
By contrast, Puerto Rico has put sports stars in nearly every arena and it is 10% of the size.
in any event, manny is the public face of Filipino athletics. Probably more so than any other country and any other athlete.
Is that a fair statement?Last edited by GG Marquez; 12-07-2009, 03:31 PM.Comment

Because pac is linked to their national identity.I see that all the time also. Floyd, kobe, even Michael jordan isn't linked to national identity. You never got the sense that Mike Tyson was fighting "for America'.
So, Pinoys are exceedingly (overly?) protective of manny. I get that.Comment

this guy you are having a go at can't even hold a 60 secs conversation on any topic there is and will always resort to below the belts attacks....
he is also known for 1 line posts which are mostly to discredit, criticize, annoy people or posters rather than contribute intelligently on the topic being discussed. mind you, i said intelligently, i guess that ain't possible.
so i mean, not all pacfans in that matter are like him.
it is actually pointless to argue or even go down to his level.... it's a bit muddy my friend, you would'nt wanna be there.

That is a fair statement but it isn't a fair situation. The big difference with Puerto Rico and the rest of the world, is that PR has a free and easy access with USA. Not to mention that the Philippines is much further away. And in general, Asians don't get the same recognition and opportunity as others. Whether it'll be Sports and/or Entertainment(Acting & Music).Killa,
