      after a 3 1/2 year layoff......

muhammad ali fought jerry quarry , oscar bonavena , joe frazier and jimmy ellis in 9 months from the end of 1970 to mid 1971.

      after a 3 1/2 year layoff!

here's the ring magazine's top 10 at heavyweight at the start of 1970:

      1.Joe Frazier
      2.Jimmy Ellis
      3.Jerry Quarry
      4.Leotis Martin
      5.Mac Foster
      6.Sonny Liston
      7.Oscar Bonavena
      8.Al Jones
      9.Henry Cooper
      10.Gregorio Manuel Peralta

he fought the top 3 fighters and another top 10 fighter in 9 months after a 3 1/2 year layoff!

      3 1/2 years!

Bonavena, Ellis and Quarry doesnt make the Grade. Bonavena scoring KD's againts Frazier doesnt count. Did Bona and Quarry even won some championships?

that's Humberto Sotto, Edwin Valero and Joan Guzman of today at least these 3 won alphabets.

all 4 guys ali fought were in their prime.

          ali went 3-1.

ali did it in 9 months after a 3 1/2 year layoff.

bonavena , quarry and ellis might not have been champions but they fought in the same division as ali , frazier , liston , foreman , norton.

there also wasn't much belts around to be had.

pacquiao went 1-1-1 and it was in 16 months.

morales was no longer prime. some say barrera was past it as well.

Prime Fighters yes but they're not in the same level.

Barrera is at least TOP 3 p4p
JMM is belted (WBA, IBF )
Morales just beat Pacquio couple of months earlier WTF

Im not talking about HOW Pac did againts them. The mere FACT that he fought them in 16 months is shocking enough. again Quarry, Bonavena and Ellis doesnt make it.

Ali's would be Norton, Frazier and Foreman in 14 months but Norton is a level below.

                    i
Yes. That's a good one. but i dont think Chuvalo was at that level. and Basically that's 2 fighters (Liston and Patterson) in 3 fights.

Chuvalo is on Hatton's level though. During the golden age of the heavyweights he's bound to get a couple losses.

Foreman, Frazier, and Liston are top 5 or 10 heavyweights, no one Pacquiao fought in those streaks are top 10 at the weight he fought them at.
