    Besides the idiot judge.....

Looking at the scorecards, this fight was decided in the 1st round. Williams scored a brushing off balance flash KD and MArtinez flushed Williams with his KD and put him on ***** street for a few rounds after.

Lederman & Carter both scored the 1st 10-9 for Williams. A 10-9 for Martinez would have made this fight a draw.

Wow. If your information is accurate, then you're right. The shame of it is, I agree with your assessment of the knockdowns. I only saw the Martinez "knockdown" twice, once in real time and again in slo-mo. In real time, I was surprised that the ref gave Sergio a standing eight, since I didn't see a blow land. The slo-mo shot was from an overhead angle. It seemed to me that, at best, P. Will's punch grazed Martinez's head. Sergio appeared to go down just trying to avoid getting hit.

I thought this fight should have been scored a draw. Realizing that the two REAL judges in this fight scored 10-9 for Paul in the first round, based on the ref's knockdown call, almost makes me sad for Martinez.

Yeah you can really take it further on your assessment and say that if the ref would have ruled a Martinez slip it would have made it a 10-8 round for Martinez thus giving him the fight on a SD despite the idiot judge.

I was aware of that possibility when I wrote my reply, but I wanted to end the speculation early. We can never know what the judges were seeing/thinking. Too many "what ifs," you know?
