naw mayweather proved that he doesnt have a big fan base when he faught Bruseles at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, the arena was emptier than when the Harlem Glotrothers where there, im dead serious
Which fighter has the biggest fan base in boxing?

There's like 120 million people in the Philippines. And only one marquee name : Manny Pacquiao.
Mexico's population would be divided among too many Mexican champs/contenders. But DLH would have the biggest slice.
Tito, like Manny, has an island nation of PR and New York City behind him.Comment

Yeah. I believe that. The only posters on this forum who are fans of his, that I have seen post like it, would be
Me, Jack, Mayweatherfan, Floydmayweather, Mic573, and Masterdirector. Small grouping compred to the "Floyd Haters" and diehard "Arturo Gatti" fans that also double as Floyd Haters.

Yeah, it's hard to say, because a lot of people like to see him fight even if they don't like him. I try to watch as much Mayweather as I can cause he's really an amazing fighter...but as for what he's like out of the ring he pretty much alientaes everyone except his most diehard fans. Plus a lot of people don't get to know how good he really is because they've already made a point of hating him ahead of time. So I guess, yeah, he doesn't have a lot of what you might call "fans".Originally posted by Runw/knivesYeah. I believe that. Take what you just said:
And that is how I feel about Mike Tyson. I am not a true fan of his, but I like to watch him fight. I dont approve of his "out of the ring" antics, but I like to watch him bomb people. Actually, I cant stand him when he is outside the ring. Inside, is another story. Its hard to hate him thoroughly, considering I have been kissing his ass lately.

In terms of having the most widespread fans, I'd have to say Tyson & Gatti. Most people outside of US doesnt even know dela hoya and boxing fans outside US are not particularly crazy about him. In terms of raw numbers, The Pacman could very well be up there, as Merchant pointed out, the Elvis or Ali of the Phillippines... An estimated of 30million+ filipinos saw the fight vs Morales so thats pretty huge.Comment

Freitas, as well, has a big following if you're talking just pure numbers (Brazil is a damn big country).Comment

Nope. In terms of "actual fan base". John Ruiz has the most fans. There are so many in China that I lost count. I know half of them, and talk to them on the phone about his undefeated record, and brilliant ring tactics.
