  • Comments Thread For: Saul Alvarez Beats Lanardo Tyner, Captures NABF Title

At Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, 19-year-old rising prospect Saul Alvarez (30-0-1, 22KOs) won the toughest fight of his career by pulling off a twelve round decision over veteran Lanardo Tyner (21-3, 13KOs) to capture the NABF welterweight title. [Click Here To Read More]

Lanardo Tyner is the most well known fighter I've ever seen live (he won by an early round KO when I saw him). Kind of dissapointing he hasn't panned out since he's moved up in class. His most well known opponent is probably Lamont Peterson who fights next Saturday against Tim Bradley.

Yeah I agree with you he should he was a patient boxer and doesn't get to confident when he lands a good shot. But I think that he needs to step up his competition. He should face baldomir or collazo or Judah to see if he gots the goods to be champion nd hopefully golden boy gets him exposure on hbo

I wish nothing but the best for this red headed Mexican. He will whip Floyd's ass in 2010. You heard it here first. Sarcasm.

hes only 19 years old. there is no hurry for him at all, and I think theyre choosing smart opponents for him so far. hes actually learning and growing from each fight, and fighting a variety of opponents.

Yes, fighting people like the very tough, durable Tyner will help Alvarez prepare for the top opponents down the road.

Hey but look at his ring experience he already has 30 wins don't you think it's time to fight somebody with a name so other people will know him like the American public. Plus he has had many of these types of fights like this nd if he keeps fighting guys like that they are Gona start to say that he's like Chavez jr just fighting bums But yeah maybe that's to much to put him in with Judah right now but they should get him in with guys like maybe Alfonso gomez or other fringe contenders soto karass guy like that. But hope he goes far though and becomes champ
