    Klitschko out until Fall

Klitschko getting surgery on Wednesday, out until September or October!
    By G. Leon

    Rahman-Barrett for WBC interim title?
April 17, 2005 - WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko's quadricep injury has turned out to be far more serious than originally expected. Klitschko will undergo surgery on his leg in California on Wednesday and will definitely be out of action until September or October. ********** has also been informed that plans are already in motion to match the WBC's "two" mandatory challengers Hasim Rahman and Monte Barrett for an interim championship while Klitschko recovers. We will continue to keep you updated and there will be much more to follow, until then, Remember where you heard it first! (9:10 PM ET)

I wish the heavyweight champ a speedy recovery. Quad injuries are quite dangerous and severe and take MONTHS to heal anyhow. This postpones the fight for sure...Quad injuries are one of the most serious in a leg injury, the muscle just rips or tears (if you are lucky) off of the bone.

Klitschko will have a hell of a time with his footwork after this.

While this does suck that Vitali will be out until Fall, at least it looks like Rahman will have to beat a top 10 heavyweight, Barrett, in order to get a title shot. And who would Byrd fight next if that happened?

Wlad king has options...Provided Golota gets by Lamon you COULD see a unification fight with Byrd and the winner of that fight...But then again Byrd is all about fighting his mandatories and it could be any of these guys.

                    1. Monte Barrett
                    2. Hasim Rahman
                    3. James Toney
                    4. Wladimir Klitschko
                    5. Jameel Mccline
                    6. Davarryl Williamson
                    7. Nicolai Valouev
                    8. Sergei Lyakovich
                    9. Samuel Peter

I wouldnt doubt though Byrd fighting the winner of Mccline vs Brock either....

Another strong possibility and the most marketable is Toney vs Byrd in Michigan that would be a DRAW and I am sure King knows this and provided Byrd could get by Toney and somehow put a belt on a white guy (wlad or golota) you would probably see something of that nature.

A tournament is bound to happen soon enough.
