Right now the top WWs are shorter right now then they have been historically in the past. You have Cotto @ 5'7, Clottey @ 5'8, and Berto @ 5'8. And you also have fighters at those same heights fighting at lower weight classes like Juanma Lopez and Chris John. The average welter historically has has been the size of Cintron, Margarito, De La Hoya, Trinidad, Hearns, Forrest. Since there has been a history of 6 foot welters I don't understand how its a shock or a big deal there is one that happens to be a couple inches over the norm. but WW has the most variants in height disparity between fighters. But from 147/54 to 200 everyone is generally from 5'10-6'2.

Also Tommy Hearns is the same height as Williams....and was a welter.
And doesnt Williams already have a loss at WW...so whats the problem with him fighting WELTERS.

He's much taller, but that does mean he's really skinny compared to the others. Is that unfair too? The other fighters should fight somebody their own width?

Celestino Caballero: Super Bantamweight
Diego Corrales: A career Super Featherweight-Lightweight
Felix Trinidad: A career Welterweight-Junior Middleweight
Roy Jones Jr: I would say 168 but can make a case for 175
Mike Tyson: A career Heavyweight
These guys are all the same height and had completely different natural weight classes. Only thing people have against Paul fighting in the lower weights is that he's tall but look at 5 fighters I just mentioned who are all the same height and fought in different weight classes, lower and higher.
