    All i know is, after a "cable boxing blackout" in my area for about 3 years has caused me to miss out on some great fights. I have written to hbo and showtime, and complained strongly but politely about this.

    Maybe a lot of other boxing fans have to, because the 4th quarter of this year has shown many boxing matches. I see reruns of most of the fights i missed during the "blackout", and every sat nite theres a good fight, usually a double card. I'm lovin it!

    The 1st and maybe 2nd quarter of 2010 is going to be excellant. I just hope they continue, and I agree with boxing wizard that;

    "2.Eliminate some weight divisions, there are too many.
    3. Boxers need to have more power and control over their careers, too much power is given to the promoters, networks, and managers.

            Well the salaries of boxers are getting lower that's a fact, some of it has to do with our economy, but a lot of it has do with promoters and managers ripping off their own fighters.

            Major fights don't happen as they used to be, so sports networks couldn't keep up with the inactivity of boxing. ESPN at one point just said **** boxing, we'll give it little coverage.

              I think you're too blind to realize that boxing has been separated from American mainstream for quite a while.
              America is the center of attention, but they aren't the be all, end all when it comes to sports. If they were soccer wouldn't be the unrivaled most popular sport in the world. The F1 league wouldn't be as successful either.

              FSN is trash, I can't remember the last time I watched that network. The mainstream media as a whole is garbage when 5-10 seconds of action and 40 seconds of break is at the top of the heap.

              Seeing where boxing was 3 years back, there's definitely been a momentum shift.

                  lol the Flyweight division. That division will never receive international popularity. You know countries like the US, Germany, Russia, wouldn't pay money to see tooth picks fight each other. You also have to consider that in Japan they can watch boxing for free, while here in the US we have to order premium channels to see the top rated boxers fight.

                    Regardless though, the fight definitely peeked peoples interest. Myself personally have never, ever, watched a soccer match. I cant name a single team or a single player outside of that guy who is married to the ****e girl, yet it's the most popular sport in the world.

                    I think we give far too much credit to the dollar and what boxers are making today in comparison to whenever. IMO, Boxing's popularity isn't measured by it's finances.. but by it's viewers.

                    Regardless of who knows who, people still tune in.. all over the world.
                    it still grabs peoples interest world wide, and is still HUGE in so many countries. It IS as popular as it's every been (sure, it may not have as many NAMES at other eras, but how big were those names during those eras? IMO, they are just big TODAY now that they are solidified as legends....diff topic though)

                    In short, I guess all I'm saying is we look at numbers and who is being paid what and assume things, at least domestically. Yet we fail to realize there's a guy named JCC who is doing PPVs against nobodies (who doesn't appeal to ANY of us) and making good money over in mexico, etc etc.

                      Well the thing is the ratings are not so high in America unless it's Pacquiao or Mayweather. We still have to watch internet streams to watch HBO or Showtime boxing, I consider that a handicap. And true soccer isn't popular in the US, but boxing is.
