Wrong on all counts. They'll make more money keeping it in Vegas because they'd be able to charge $350-500 for nosebleed seats and sell those out easily, not to mention all the other casinos and venues who will sell tickets on closed circuit telecast seats.

The only way they'd make more money on network TV is if the networks could guarantee Super Bowl type ratings, which won't happen though this is a giant fight.

And why are you complaining about the undercard when the main event isn't even official yet?

I understand that they will make more money having it in Vegas. They can also make probably 30 million dollars just off a site fee, which is fine. The problem is, is that extra 50 million dollars actually worth it in the long run? The problem with boxing is they don't THINK or plan for the future. Who's to say that if you had it in Texas how many more fans this fight would create for the sport of boxing. What about the little boy that is sitting next to his father, watches the sport, and becomes a fan and eventually a world class boxer that could generate millions for the sport 15 year down the line. Why do you think this sport has killed itself and is struggling to have future stars, especially in America, the country that as it goes boxing will go? It's the freaking exposure or should I say LACK of exposure.

As for the networks, you're right it won't land on it but put it on regular HBO so all of HBOs subscribers can get it. Even if you didn't care for the sport, the hype around it would be enough to give you interest. Then you watch, and maybe you become a fan. Besides it's just another point of the idiots that have ran the sport. Networks can't get Super Bowl ratings due to boxings greed over the years and alienating the sport years ago on PPV.

Don't really know the undercard but come on. You know it will be complete ****. This sport will suck this event dry and instead of using it as a stepping stone to the future fights of the sport it will instead make it one of its last. Love the sport but if they can't get this right, they will never get anything right.

Instead of giving us showcase fights on the undercards they will give us bull **** fighters that have no future of being good in the sport.

It will happen and it makes me upset. All my friends are excited for this event, but I just think about it and I know it will flop. IMO this event will do more harm to the sport than help because the fights will be poor and have no foundation fighters on it and the main event will be a snoozer. The flood gates will open on boxing and everyone will be bashing it saying this is why they hate the sport. Think about Mayweather/DLH, all those buys. Everyone bashed the sport and you would thin 2.5 million buys, that it would create new fans but it didn't. It just created more haters.

Honestly, I'm with you here. I'd like to see Mayweather-Pacquiao in an actual Super Bowl or Wrestlemania-type atmosphere with close to 100,000 fans. But I seriously doubt boxing will die out because it's being held in Vegas instead of Dallas. If a father wants his kid to watch the fight, he's going to watch the fight. I doubt they'll boycott the event just because it isn't being held at Jerry Jones' amusement park.

This is silly. This fight already has more buzz around it than any boxing match in recent memory. There are casual sports fans who are willing to pay $59.99 just to see them fight. Why not charge them for it?

This is the type of event where it won't matter whether it's on PPV or regular HBO. Either way there's going to be a record number of viewers for a fight.

No event gets Super Bowl ratings except for the Super Bowl and the last episode of shows like Seinfeld. It has nothing to do with boxing's greed.

I agree that this is going to be the best showcase for boxing and the best way to attract casual fans to the sport, and if they don't have a good undercard it would be a wasted opportunity. But I don't think it's fair to complain about the undercard when the main event isn't even official yet.

Looks like Vegas may win out in the end afterall. Most folks who will make the trip to see it live will arrive a week or two before the fight to get acclimated and enjoy other forms of activities and entertainment, which Vegas has plenty to offer.

LV is an already established boxing and big entertainment city which will make the entire setup smooth going. The behind the scenes crew already know the deal.

Not that it's impossible to pull off in Texas, but Vegas edges out Texas due to the variety of entertainment attractions it has to offer.
