This article is very true. I have heard it from multiple sources and I have heard about the large advance Pac had to take from Arum leading up to the Cotto fight. There have been a lot of people take advantage of Pacquiao financially over the years and he is very giving with his money.

Another thing that should be discussed is Roach's cut. Traditionally a trainer does get 10% of the gross fighter purse but when a fighter gets to the financial level of a Manny Pacquiao there is usually an arrangement made bfore each bout where the trainer will work for an agreed upon fee. For instance against Mayweather coming up there is no way Roach should make upawards of 2 million dollars. I agree Manny needs Roach but Roach needs Manny as well and work for a fraction of 2 mill.

Most of what you say is dead on except the bolded IMO. It's difficult to leave the promoter because they sign a legally binding contract with the promoter. Also, boxers that live on advances from promoters is in the extreme minority of fighters because only the extreme minority is in demand enough to secure the promoter repayment of debt and a return

No he doesn't owe US IRS, you are correct. That is because Pacquiao and Arum have made sure that his American taxes are paid out of his purse which is extremely smart. But he does run out of money before his fights and take advances from Arum. This is true. I am not saying he is not doing dishonorable things with his money I am just saying that he is overly generous and gets bamboozled by some.
