I watched him fight Abraham (he handled himself admirabley, but in the end he ran out of gas by the 9 round, but managed to "hang on". until he got caught in the 12th, he was recently knocked out by Froch, again with a fast start and was ahead in the scoring cards but hanging on for the last 4 rounds or so. Both Froch and Abraham are top ranked super middleweights as we all know. I watched him lose twice (once by knockout) to Pavlik . He did beat an overmatched and over rated Jeff Lacy by 12 rd decision. before getting knocked out in consecutive bouts (Abrahom and Froch) He seems to me like he still has skills, just not eough fuel mileage to continue. And it certainly doesn't get any easier when he fights perhaps the best of the super 6 guys, Andre Ward. I also saddly watched his interview on Shotime before his fight with Froch the other day and he really seems like he's punch drunk. Never was a linguist but his speech is terrible, his speech is slurred and I watched his hands tremble a little bit during the entire interview. I'd hate to see him get really hurt or end up like Ali. The thing I admire the most about him is the fact that he never ducked anyone, always took the most experienced and dangerous fighters.
Is Jermaine Taylor washed up??

I don't know if he is done. He always looked like he was going to be more than he has turned out to be. He had a few rough fights (Hopkins and Pavlik) that may have taken a lot out of him. Some times a guy goes through a fight and is never the same again. I don't know if he is a shot fighter - but he should take a year or so, come back with a couple easy fights - and THEN get back in the game. -
I wouldn't say washed up. Because I don't think he is an elite level fighter like we thought he was. He fought well against Bhop sure but I dunno. I don't think he was ever that great. And I really like him and love to watch him fight and support him each time he's out now. And hope he keeps going and trains hard for Ward should he decide to fight.Comment

He's gonna get hurt bad by Ward if he goes through with the fight. Yes, he's washed up. He's in Zab Judah land now. Probably worse off even.Comment

Taylor is a good guy and a good boxer. But everybody tried to hype him up before the Hopkins fights. They were saying he was going to take the middleweight throne for YEARS and that nobody was going to be able to beat him. Hopkins won BOTH fights in my Opinion because Boxing wanted a new breed to get the torch they took the TITLES away from Hopkins, because Taylor didn't win them like he is suppose to win them. Instead it only showed us in Both fights that he died out in the last rounds and hopkins battered him. Then got Lucky Decisions against Spinks and Winky. THEN HE GOT TORCHED by Pavlik.
and the rest we already know. Froch and Abraham spanked that ass.
Taylor was always overrated IMO. but he ducked nobody so he gets credit for that. Most of his BIG WINS are LUCKY decisions (Hopkins 1&2, Winky, and Spinks)
He never dominated in a big fight and hasn't showed punching power since Pre Hopkins.Comment

When you are suffering from temporary memory loss and concussion after a fight then it is definately time to hang up the gloves.Comment

He's starting to remind me of Zab Judah. He isn't mentally preparing himself and his heart doesn't seem to have enough to push him to the end of fights. His will is no more.Comment
