Did anyone see that Derrick Wilson kid on the undercard last night?

I really had high hopes for Wilson the 1st time I saw him on another Versus card last year. I was really disappointed at how seemingly not in condition for a 4 rounder he was, he was breathing heavy after the 1st round. There is also no reason for someone with his natural talent, handspeed, and reflexes to have been hit so cleanly and easily by a slow plodding opponent. He really needs some defensive work, and just went in and out at all of the wrong times last night.
You can tell he is really trying to get by on his talent alone and isn't putting the work in. Clearly he did not listen to the words of advice that Hopkins gave him after his last fight where he won a 1st rd ko. I really hope he learns from this experience and loss because he does have an abundance of talent, but seems to lack dedication and focus.......did anyone see that 4 rounder last night, and are you familiar with Derrick Wilson? If so, what do you think of him?

I thought Wilson looked good when he KO'd a highly touted Golden boy prospect in 1 round a couple months ago. I thught he had a bright future. But, then he signed with Golden boy. And, I didn't like his future after that. He fell to the Golden boy curse...

He got beat by a 7-9 fighter. That's all that really need's to be said.

I am telling you is the Golden boy curse. A prospect should never sign with Golden boy. Never

I think they gave him a difficult experienced opponent for him to fight in this point of his career, to show him that if he doesnt put tthe work in, he will lose. He was clearly gassed and had no defensive game. He need to train more and better...he prolly slacked and they wanted to give him a lesson. I dont see why otherwise give him a tough opponent like that guy on his 4th pro fight at age 20

He has serious talent.......it just seemed like he wasn't ready for a fight and thought he would steamroll his opponent.

Didn't mean to come off as a prick, Spray. Yeah, Wilson has obvious talent, but maybe he hasn't developed his "tiger claws", you know, man strength. He has time. Hopefully he will learn from this fight. What actually shocked me was that De Leon got the judges nod.

You guys talking about the pinked-glove guy?

He had a good first round and I thought he would easily take the fight. After that however, he looked sloppy and I wondered what the hell he was doing. He was wiffing with wide hooks and getting hit by a not-so-great fighter.

That being said, he is 20 and looks like he has potential.
