He fights in the same style as Calzaghe, including being a southpaw, except he doesn't "slap" with his shots. He throws hard straight punches that come from all angles. He's cagey in a lot of ways like Bernard Hopkins, and is very calculating but quick to react in the mold of Alexis Arguello. On top of it all, when he lets his hands go: he's fast, very fast. I'd put his speed on par with, but just a shade below the Mosley's, Mayweather's and Pacquiao's of the sport.
I look at all the things Martinez has going for him, and how P-Will has never faced anyone quite like him before, and I gotta give it to Martinez in a hard fought battle.
Williams will lose, but become an even better fighter from the experience.
That's what I've been saying, Martinez was green back then. He was schooling Margarito too before the ref stopped it. I'm sure he has some sort of strategy for Williams- a lot of people are sleeping on this dude.
problem is he's not fighting margarito he's fighting p dub who beat margarito... paul trainin wit quintana has prepared him and martinez since then has fought average opposition and played frontrunner most of his fights
this is a bigger jump for serg and he'll pay 4 it
williams beats him down, wide UD or possible late stoppage
Yes. I like Martinez, but he'll be a little slower at 160 and eventually Williams volume of punches will throw him off his rhythm and Sergoi will end up taking a lot of punishment.
I don't think any fighter from 147 to 168 could win a decision over Williams right now, but I also think a strong puncher like Abraham might stop him.

To be fair though, the triangle theory hardly ever works in boxing.
