Scientists have travelled forward in time to the year 2058 where they found a man who still clings onto the belief that "Roy Jones might be back."
Chip Connors, 28, an averagely-sized American from Maryland (pictured) said "people say Roy doesn't have it any more, but I still believe he can come back."
Despite the fact that in Chip's time period Roy is aged 89, this doesn't deter Chip from believing a career rennaissance is just around the corner. "Lots of boxers try and come back and fail, but there's only one Roy Jones Jr. How other many men TKO'd Vinny Pazienza?"
Scientists tried to talk Chip round, pointing out that 21 years before Chip was even born Roy was KO'd in one round by a bum. "I saw the tapes, y'all," insisted Chip, "Roy just stumbled, he would have gone on to win that fight."
Chip then went on to list catergoric reasons for every one of Roy's defeats, including "weight drain", "bad elbows" and "a slight cold".
The psychological condition, known as "Royshotunus Denyinus", is an extreme one, and one that can lead to severe mental ill health. Those being treated for the disease have been known to exhibit severe side-effects, including making incoherent, meaningless statements like "Roy must be back if he got a points decision over Prince Badi Ajamu" and "Isn't it about time John 'The Quiet Man' Ruiz got his place in the Hall Of Fame?"
It is not yet known what can be done to treat Chip and others like him.
