Cant' teach an old dog new tricks. I doubt you'll see a dramatic overhaul of style. But I do see Roach correcting alot of mistakes and bad habits. Personally, his offensive style is tailored made for an opponent who's less mobile, but I'm sure Roach is working to try to fix that. Unlike the aggressive fighters that Floyd's fought in the past, Manny is quick enough to attack and move. This will be key. But the main thing he needs to fix is Manny's defense. If he doesn't, it will just be like target practice for Floyd.

Regardless of what Roach says ...

Manny has his own brain ... he is coming up with his own strategies ...

What is his strategy? He has developed a helluva chin and can handle body shots...

Manny can just do more of the same ...

Working different angles, increased head movements and feints, and he will probably have more power than ever when he meets Floyd.

When Mayweather is up against the ropes Manny will know what to do unlike De La Hoya. It's all about distance. Manny will give him some space so he can land his killer combos.

I doubt Roach is going to overhaul Manny's style because Roach doesn't train like that. Roach's style is to take his fighter's greatest strengths and create a game plan which he will use to expose the opponent's habits. He'll probably teach Manny to cut off the ring in a much more effective way. I don't really know. We'll know on March 13th.

if Roach uses the same gameplan for Mayweather like he did when he trained DLH, which is use feints, thats the only way you can really beat a fighter with mayweather's style and movement. except DLH couldnt pull the trigger...

manny had some nice feints against cotto and roach was probably thinking mayweather after the first few rounds...plus i think one thing people tend to forget about is manny's experience..he didnt have a classic amateur background but better yet he had real professional rounds against top competition and against different styles.(except mayweather's)

That's how I see it going tbh. Floyd's gonna take a minute to feel Pacquiao out, but I think he'll be very strong in the middle and late parts of the fight and win by UD.

Roach just got to make sure lands hard punches on PBFs face consistently. Not much more confusing than that really. And try not to get hit too much.
Exactly, Floyd takes other fighters out of their game plan and makes them fight his fight. If Manny fights his own fight and works on a few new punches, i.e; uppercuts then he will be ok. Floyd ducks really low to avoid punches, the perfect time to shoot an uppercut is when he is ducking. Floyd is really fidgety and reacts to nearly any movement resembling a punch. Manny should use feints to fake Floyd into blocking and strike the exposed area. He needs to apply pressure and take away all of Floyd's space to work, this is where Marquez messed up big time. Pressure, speed, feints, using Floyd's movement against him is all you need to do- take Floyd out of his fight.

Good post. I agree that Pac's use of feints and uppercuts will be key. Also I think whether or not Pac is able to cut off the ring effectively will be important in the fight.

Very likely that Roach will try to teach Manny how to cut off the ring; just as he tried to teach De La Hoya when he was up against Mayweather.

How I can see Manny might be effective, is somehow utilizing his speed to get in and outside of Mayweather quick and effectively.

Oscar found some success with his jab and Roach tried to gain results with it, but since Manny does not have Oscar's jab, Manny's speed advantage over Oscar seems to be the primary key this time around with Roach.

This is easier said than done though.

Roach will work more on footwork, footspeed, speed and mobility this time around

this is just part of roach's psywar

i would not believe anything he says about what they're gonna do to be honest.

manny was asked ths about this on phil tv, it was a part english and part filipino so i was able to pick up some of it and he's saying its a secret!
