Mark my words....especially with the way Roy lost....I think had the punch been on the chin like Tarver's punch and NOT on the back of the neck/head it would be a different story. But Roy did get up and was dazed but was still defending himself. He attempted to clinch and went back into his defensive shell. Green although attacking Jones didn't inflict anymore damage to Jones and hit all gloves and sneaking a couple of punches through. He should have been able to knock Roy down again OR EVEN out....i REALLY THOUGHT Roy was gonna get dropped again.
I am not discrediting Green's victory as it wasn't his fault that Jones turned his head. But they way this bizarre fight went down IMO isn't enough to not make a Hopkins match and this how I think they will sell the fight :
1) Roy MOVED up to try to make History and win a CW title in a division he didn't fight at and he came up short against the bigger man in his home country. It wasn't in Roy's division of LHW
2) Roy will watch the tape and come out and say "The punch hit me in the back of the neck/head and it DID knock me down but I got up like a true champion and was defending myself. I don't know why they stopped the fight, I would lasted to the end of the round because again he wasn't landing any punches and I was getting my head back together and was gonna come out in Round to in RJ MODE!!!".
3) B-Hop will MAGICALLY start praising Roy Jones, saying how Roy Jones is a LEGEND and an ATG and that loss in Australia was a fluke and him & Jones have a settle to score. He will say, Roy just fought a bigger man and he believes Roy @ LHW would pose a threat to him even at age 40 because of his speed...blah blah blah....(these guys are good talkers and will no doubt sell this fight with good'ol boxing propaganda
)
4) The way Roy loss is suspect to a lot of people. When I woke up and read that ROY JONES WAS KO'ed IN ONE ROUND I assumed he was literally Glencoffed again
...but when I seen the footage and the slowed down replay, and then the events that followed I thought to myself "The Jones-Hopkins fight is still going happen".......IMO this fight just went from HBO PPV to Regular HBO Championship Boxing.....the Jones loss at a higher weight class in another country spin is already in the works.....it will be hard to sell an HBO PPV like they had planned. But being that this will probably be Roy's last fight this will easily sell in Vegas (MGM) with all the stars coming out and both fighters will still make a nice pay day. .........AND EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THIS WONDERFUL BOARD WILL TUNE IN TO THIS FIGHT......................IF YOU SAY YOU WONT YOU'RE A
!!!
