Sometimes it takes a convincing loss for a fighter to decide to retire. I think DLH should have retired after the mayeather fight it was first real loss at 154, he had no business going down in weight for the forbes and pac fights. SRL didn't learn his lesson after Terry Norris and came back for a useless fight against Camacho.

Joe Calzaghe is still one of my favorite fighters; but he realized that he had been KD in has last 2 fights and knew he could be KOD in his next, so he retired before one of those nights happened. Thomas Hearns stayed way too long as ALi did. Wilfred Benitez started at 15 as a professional and by his mid 20's was already past his prime, now has health problems.

In honesty, sometimes its not even pride but really money. Unfortunately, they dont take care of their finances and dont prepare for life outside of the ring. As a result, they need those paydays.

            Calzaghe loss not convincing enough?

This was embarrassing and that's what a fighter really needs. The only comforting thing about the loss is that it was in the first round, so Roy can chalk it up to being caught cold. The embarrassing part is it was in the first and Green isn't ranked in the top 10 of any division.
