Jones stoppage too soon

Boxed for many years. So before you suggest what I did or did not do, lets keep it focused on what is in the thread. I think it was stopped premature, because there not any effect clean punches landing. There was a couple of upperguts that got through right after he went down, and Roy did actually hold Green and back green up. Roy covered up, as your supposed to do, and prevented any additional major damage (at that time) from happening. I do feel that Roy should have been punching back. So the stoppage clearly was justified, but IMO Roy was clearly responsive, covering up, and blocking clean head shots. it is a judgment call, but I think roy should have went down and taken a knee and gotten the 10 seconds he needed to additionally clear his head.
By the way, it was not a clean right hand. it was a equilibrium shot. If you had boxed, my friend you know this. The punch landed behind the head, sort of like when SRl went down the first time vs Tommy hearns in the 2nd fight. Roy was clearly groggy, but not from a legal punch, well it was legal because the ref did not call it.Comment

Well Roy got dropped and from there on went into a shell, and didn't throw for 30 odd seconds, and got caught a few more times. Fair stoppage.Comment

Pretty much said it all. It's really that simple why keep making these threads?! The rules are simple, the reason is understandable, history has told us so, no reason to keep making these threads. What happens to Michael Watson if Roy Francis does not stop the Eubank fight because he is not punching back? that is the extent of the possible danger we are talking about.
If a fighter does not even attempt to throw a shot for 20/30second you auto assume that he is badly!! hurt.Comment
