Biggest thing to happen in Boxing in the 1980s?

What is it? Or even name a couple things if you can.

I have to do a speech tomorrow on sports in the 1980s for my public speaking class.

So if you know of any other major things that took place in sports in the 1980s , like in baseball, basketball, football, feel free to bring them up.

I wasn't around in the 1980s and I'm having a hard time researching.

Hagler-Leonard was in the late 80s no?

Here’s a few to off the top of the dome:

    Hearns Vs Duran-1986

    Duran Vs Leonard- 1 1980

    Duran Vs Leonard 2 –Nov 25 1980

    Hagler Vs Hearns -1985

Or 1986 World Series with NY Mets ousting the Boston Red Sox.
Side Note: These are just roughly a few of relevant fights/sports events that stick out the most for me hope this helps.

    Peace.

I think it's been the decision of the WBC... I mean, from 15 round to 12 anfter che Kim Mancini fight. that decision saved many lifes imo.

From pure boxing I could remind the entire Gerry Cooney - Larry Holmes story (white hope-biggest LV bout ever-dead people 'cause of the fight-racism), the Meldrick Taylor - Chavez bout (it's in early 1990, mh...), Arguello - Pryor I&II (black bottle included), Hagler vs everyone, Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson.

You should mention Tyson so some people have something they can relate to since everyone knows about him.
