It was a sad day seeing Roy get beat that easily by a limted fighter. Green was a solid puncher with good fitness and heart, nothing more. Even do Roy was past his best, I still thought he had enough left to box the ears off Green.
The same Green who was given a boxing lesson at the hands of fellow Aussie Anthony Mundine, who although is a good fighter is nothing special, and who had suffered a KO defeat to Sven Okkte and a points loss to Manny Siaca.
But it just shows me how much of a washed up fighter Roy is. His punch resistance has faded and he has no legs or reflexes no more. It also goes to show me how washed up Jeffy Lacy and Omar Sheika are, two men who Roy destroyed this year.
But I will remember Roy at his peak. Jones at the peak of his powers, attempted things no boxer had ever attempted before. Whether it was jabbing from a distance, or hitting and slipping from mid range, throwing fast explosive combinations on the inside.
At his best Jones threw the Boxing textbook out the window, but he was that gifted he could probaly wirte his own on the art of boxing.
Jones possesed uncanny speed, reflexes and ring intelligence. On his best day, Roy would of been a problem for any fighter around his weight classes.
In his remarkable career. Roy was a 4 weight division champion, which included winning titles from Middleweight to Heavyweight. Thanks for the memories Roy.......
