After the ref seperated the 2 fighters after Roy tried to grab Green the next barrage of punches didnt even land and Roy was defending himself well. I thought he was more hurt in the 3rd Tarver fight 11th round on the ropes then this fight. Roy is good at covering up on the ropes and blocking punches. The ref should have given him a chance to weather the storm. Some will say he didnt punch back, but even when Roy is not hurt he will cover up on the ropes and block punches
Roy vs Green Fight was stopped to soon

No way, he didn't even have it in him to clinch properly, Roy was getting killed, if the ref had let it go on and Roy substained some serious damage then that's all on the ref for letting it continue.Comment

Just watched it again and felt it was a good a stoppage by the ref. He gave Roy a chance to throw something back or a minute but nothing was thrown at all. Plus Green was going all out and Roy looked a little dazed from the knockdown still! Roy was done, after the clinch broke he just stumbled back and waited for the next barrage of shots to come..Comment

I don't think he threw a single punch after the knock down. Also look at when the ref breaks up the clinch, Roy almosy wobbles over. Roy was defending himself, but he went for 30 seconds without throwing anything meaningful and was being backed up on the ropes with Green just throwing at will.
There's no way that bout was stopped too early. Roy's legs were gone. If he could have made it until the end of the round he might have managed to sort himself out. But no ref in good conscience can allow a clearly hurt fighter to be backed up on the ropes, acting like a punching bag and not throwing a single shot, for one whole minute.Comment
