Is it me, or is Paul Williams skills pretty much "primative"

I mean seriously. He is one of my favorite fighters, but he basically relies on throwing a ****load of punches and overwhelming you with his volumn, similar to boxers such as Juan Diaz or Antonio Margarito. I mean it works now, but with such a basic gameplan, he is just one skilled fighter away from being exposed.

I mean this isn't meant as a knock on him, I'm just saying with his physical gifts, he could be a way more skilled fighter than what he displays in the ring. For instance, Floyd does things in the ring that wow you when you go back and watch replays. Same with Pacquiao, Marquez and others. I mean little things, from a skill wise perspective that show you how savy they are as boxers.

I know Paul has the same level of skill, but he just replies on that basic primative style of just overwhelming you instead of outsmarting and outboxing you.

I mean for one, if he would stay on the outside and use his jab, following by a overhand right, he would pretty much be unbeatable. Also he has the handspeed and ability to quickly close gaps to be one of the best counterpunchers in the game. I'm just saying he is the most gifted boxer I have ever seen, and has the tools to be unbeatable.

Well people are really sleeping on Martinez, because Sergio is a helluva fighter. But that is another topic for another day.

Williams needs to work on his defense at this point his offense and his face are his defense. As he gets older or faces better opposition if he wants to stay in boxing he will need to improve.
