People will always buy Mayweather fights because they want to see him lose, not because he's exciting. It's a smart marketing tactic. Even people who hate the Yankees watched the World Series in hopes of seeing the Phillies embarass them. Floyd's fights are the same way, and 24/7 does a great job building up De La Hoya, Hatton, and even Marquez as dangerous even though most boxing fans thought he'd win easily.

No one in his right mind is going to pay $54.95 to see someone lose a fight. If you are paying that much for a fight, you are paying it because you are a fan of the people fighting. No one gives money away to people they hate. I predicted Cotto would KO Pac, but I wasn't willing to pay $54.95 to watch it because I am not a fan of either one and I could find a lot better things to spend $54.95 on.

I live in the UK and I've heard people speaking about this fight on the train. Out of road, bars etc.

I'm surprised that so many people knew of the fight. What I also found interesting was the majority of people I heard speaking about the fight think Mayweather would win, now that's what I think too but I assumed casual fans would think Pacquiao is the likely victor due to his more explosive wins.
