I didn't like the way Dirrell fought, but Dirrell clearly won that fight IMO.

I think Froch won the fight. It was close, and maybe Dirrell could have nicked it, and I wouldn't have complained if he was given the decision, but for me Froch won.

What resume does Ward have apart from Kessler? His only other decent victory is against Miranda, and he nothing more than a gatekeeper.

I take nothing away from Ward. He is a fantastic pugilist, and has the potential to be one of the best boxers in the world, but one good victory doesn't make you the best. If he beats Dirrell convincingly, and Froch loses to Kessler then the top spot is up for grabs. But as it stands -

1)Bute
2)Froch
3)Ward

Maybe so. Should the argument should be, why isn't Froch rated as the no1 SMW in the world? I think he has the best resume of the current super-middleweights. The performances may have been poor, but the names on his record are very good.

Berrio was top 10 SMW at the time.

And, this rankings not lineal title. In rankings body of work is what matters. If Kessler was the lineal champion then yes Ward would be #1 cuz Ward would be the lineal champ. However, the was no lineal title involved. So now with the rankings we have to go with the body of work. And, Bute body of work is better than Wards at the moment. Bute is #1.

Answer a question for me, just for clarification. Where was Andrade ranked on that list before the Bute fight? Where was Bute ranked? Kessler was ranked #1 before the Ward fight. I don't know where Ward was ranked at the time, but if anyone deserves to be #1 it is Ward. He beat the number 1 guy. Bute beat the guy ranked ?

2) Bika is rated in the top 10 now so that wins look good now right. Just if Miranda win the win for Ward looks better
3) If Miranda is a gate keeper then so in Berrio and Zuniga.
4) If you don't know who Berrio and Zuniga are then that is the end of this thread cuz you not a hardcore fan. You don't want to give credit to Bute for those wins fine. And, Berrio was top 10 when Bute beat him. Just a lil info Berrio was a solid is a good win. Zuniga was on the same level as Miranda is.

The way you win is a big factor.....if Ward won a close fight over the #1 fighter and Bute ko'd the #3 fighter in 1 round would Ward deserve a higher rank because of the ranking of his opponent?

well he has the best resume at 168,along with kessler,then froch (even though he got a gift decision against dirrell)
