Question for fat yanks!

Agreed.
I do think Ward should have been warned for leading with his head and possibly holding too.
If Froch had been the only one using cheap tactics against Dirrell I would have been pissed. That was different though cause Dirrell was holding too.Comment

Very possible, but the question was what you, as a fat yank, would think if Ward got the same raw deal if the fight was in Copenhagen.Comment

Boxing has a history of dumb referees and ****** judges. As a boxer you have to learn how to deal with it. Rules are only made to be broken. If Ward is a billygoat or an octopus, Kessler should have learned about this in advance a figured out a way of dealing with it. Your guess is as good as mine as to whether Ward would have been able to deal with these sort of problems in Denmark. What we do know is that Ward made not one but two steps up the ladder to beat the best man in the division.Comment

Absolutely. But I guess the question by the TS was how you as an american would have reacted if Ward was butted by Kessler 5 times in a danish ring and the danish referee didn't do anything?Boxing has a history of dumb referees and ****** judges. Well, I'm not an American. You must have heard to old saying: Butt me once shame on you, butt me twice shame on me. If the referee refuses to do his job, as many of them do, then a boxer has to do it for him. A few well placed elbows would have solved the headbutt and holding issues.Comment

Yeah you can say that. I was also thinking that if those dirty and illegal tactics bothered Kessler that much and the referee wouldn't enforce the rules, I'd have liked to have seen him place a couple of Golota style punches south of the border.Well, I'm not an American. Kessler has a point about the head butts, getting 5 of them is ridiculous. In all honesty though do you think they made that big of an impact on the final result of the fight? Ward tore Kessler to shreds before the head butts even took place and I don't see any reason why he would have done any better if he hadn't been head butted. Kessler didn't seem prepared for the fight. Also you can say that Kessler should return the favor with the dirty tactics but I can bet that Kessler gets warned/points deducted if he tries since in Oakland Ward will be protected like the president.Comment

Kessler is a good boxer and to be honest I thought he was the man to beat in the tournament. I knew the two Andre's had the skill to beat him, the question is do they have the will? Turns out one Andre lived up to his promise and beat Kessler but the other fissled out and lost a God awful fight against Froch. You may recall Froch using dirty tactics, but he was (and is) a bit crude. If Kessler had properly prepared himself for the fight he would have been able to finesse an elbow as easily as Ward finessed a headbutt.Comment

you mean like dirrell-froch? intentional rabbit punches and bodyslams + robbery?hey people.
first of all, no hate in the title, just saw another poster using it, and couldnt help but give it a little laugh... and he seemed to be getting plenty of attention...
Just a quick question about the Ward-Kessler fight.
Just for the record, i thought Ward was spectacular that night, amazing speed and movement, and i´m not trying to take anything away from him, he did everything right on that night. Especially from a tactical point of view.
but... and here be the question(s):
How would you americans feel if Ward(or maybe Mosley or Hopkins, since Kessler is by far the biggest star in danish boxing) came to Denmark and was never, ever given a fair shake by officials nor the referee, the victim of excessive holding and of course the 5 "unintentional" headbutts???Comment
