Could Jones Jr. Match Hopkins' Performance Vs. Pavlik?

Boxingscene writer, Lyle Fitzsimmons, seems to think so:

And his own last five years have been only marginally better than Jones’s, featuring a 3-3 record to Roy’s 5-4, a far less-watchable loss to Calzaghe and a win over Kelly Pavlik that Jones could probably have matched had gotten to the robotic Ohioan first.
I see Jones-Pavlik being a back and forth fight until Pavlik overwhelmed RJ with activity and power. RJJ has to lay on the ropes for long stretches at a time because his legs can't withstand being on the move for more than a minute of a round.

Would have been a pretty different fight since Roy's legs are bad...Roy's handspeed would make Pavlik look ****** at times though...

My money would be on Roy...I think he'll protect his beard well enough if they fought...

Roy wouldn't be able to protect his beard laying on the ropes as much as he does.

Pavlik is really good when his opponent is in the same place. RJ would counter him in the beginning, but it'd decrease as the rounds go on. Trinidad took the first few rounds, but since RJ pretty much knew he couldn't hurt him, he took over completely.

RJ still has faster hands than 99.9% of the fighters above 154, but Pavlik would take him in a close fight until the late KO.

Jones is afraid to throw when something with power is coming back. Pavlik catches him and lights out.

Hopkins beat Pavlik with movement that didn't allow him to set up his punches. Jones on the other is a stationary target at this point in his career and would likely get backed up into the ropes which is exactly what you don't want to do against someone like Pavlik. Jones would certainly have his moments and not ruling out a win but as far as matching Hopkins performance of making it look easy, I don't see it.

Hopkins fought a brilliant fight against Pavlik. Jones dosen't seem to bring that footwork anymore. I think Jones could have beat him with boxing skill but i don't think it would have been easy.

              Pavlik would stop Roy late.

Roy would beat Pavlik, just like he will beat bernie, if bernie finally gets the guts to enter a boxing ring with Roy....Roy will beat him cause of the fear bernie has of Roy!!! How many YEARS has hobkins been avoiding the rematch????

Regardless of if he could beat him or not, he's not making it look as easy.
