akins, no, you would not fight anyone over 18. Once you reach 18, its fair game til 31 or something like that. Im 18 now and it sucks because im fighting 28 year olds.

Belive me.. the judges I had didnt count my body shots. You always here people saying " go to the body", then you dont get any points for it. It sucks.

Oh yeah, we fight three 3 minute rounds if you are under 10 fights or so ( novice level ). WHen you are open, they fight 4 2 minute rounds. Thats the way they do it at the fights ive been in.

Your novices should not be fighting 3 minute rounds. As a matter of fact the usa/abf no longer allows three minute rounds. As far as open fighters doing 4-2 minute rounds thats right. But if all of this was so then your novices would be fighting 9 minutes while your open, and more experienced fighters, would only be fighting 8 minutes..........Rockin'

I kid you not. I always wondered why too. I would think to my slef why am I fighting longer than the open guys. My last fight was sept of 2003 and I fought 3 three minute rounds. I fight again in May, so now I'm really curious; rules must have changed while i was away. It was sanctioned by usa boxing too.

I just looked at the usa boxing rulebook online and it is three 2 minute rounds now for novices. Thats like a whole round less than I was fighting before.

Im 5'9 and im 165. Im kinda muscular and stocky naturally though. Ideally I would like to be at 152, but I just cant do it and feel healthy and strong.

Don't know about local rules in USA, but in senior amateur boxing in the past there were 3 x 3mins rounds, now there are 4 x 2mins rounds.
