Sturm's problem isn't just his trainer. Besides Pavlik and maybe Paul Williams, there aren't a lot of compelling fights available to him at middleweight. He and/or his promoters blew it by not being willing to fight Abraham when AA was a middleweight.
If Sturm's actually ready to fight Pavlik or P. Williams or somebody of that caliber, good for him. Welcome to the big time. If not, he might as well stay in Germany picking up big paychecks for beating up nobodies, because he isn't going to make big money in the U.S. fighting guys like Jamie Pittman, Randy Griffin, Koji Sato and Khoren Gevor

It's not a coincidence Steward's successful pupils are usually the bigger, taller fighters of their division. Look at his track record, especially recently.

Sturm is a normal/smaller middleweight and he doesn't need help with his jab or how to use his weight against an opponent. He needs someone that can do some good game planning and teach him a few tricks. Roach is also a good advisor and knows what styles are best for his fighters to fight.

              Short Money

A Pavlik - Sturm fight will be made for May if that's what he wants. HBO will jump all over that as soon as Sturm wins his court case which is virtually assured with the Klitschko's lawyer. Everything else at 160 is short money at this point.

Cmon Man, dont bump 3 year old threads. It didnt happen because Sturm wants to be protected in Germany all his life. I guess Roach didnt want to train someone who will hide in Germany all their life.

or maybe its because Roach has so many fighters and Sturm felt he wouldnt get enough time with him?
