    On the rise and decline.....

With so much talk happening about mayweather and pacquiao it just occured to me that pacquiao couldnt have picked a better time to fight mayweather.

Clearly in mannys last few fights he has looked sharper than ever with dominating performances over feared opponants. He seems as if he is peaking now.

Mayweather, even though his last fight was an impressive display of boxing ability should have arguably done a better job and ko'd JMM, i dont know if he was just trying to get some rounds in due to ring rust though, whats ur thought?

IMO manny has never looked better and floyd may be showing signs of slowing down. i still think mayweather wins but well the point of the thread is wow good timing manny

I dont think Floyd's showing any signs of slowing down. I thought against marquez he looked just as sharp if not sharper than his most recent fights a few years ago against Hatton and Hoya. I think Floyd would have finished marquez if he could, last couple rounds Floyd really put his foot down but marquez hung in there and got to the final bell.

I would agree to a point he looked sharp when compared to his recent fights but imo he is still not as sharp as he was a few years ago, i would definatly say he is just coming out of his prime, what do u think?

I say Floyd's as sharp as hes ever been at welterweight. Seems to me he is more of a one punch at a time fighter now. Where as at lightweight light welter he was throwing many more combinations.
Dont think hes on the slide at all mate. Hes only in his early 30s. I reckon theres a few more years until his reflections go.

me neither....idk where this comes from....dude has fought once in the past 2 years. where does he show signs of slowing down? from 24/7???

no excuses for either fighter, i think they're BOTH in their primes right now, and whoever wins should be appreciated and congratulated.

again just a matter of opinion really, what i would say is that it is hard to judge how sharp he is when your measurering stick is JMM at a weight he has never been at...? yes/no?

I go by his all round performance. Thought he looked very sharp mate.
What makes you think he might be on the slide?

I agree with you. I think Floyd could fight at the top level for another 5 years comfortably. But whether he'll be able to continue to be undefeated against top opposition is another thing. He's probably on a slow decline from around now. But it's very slow because of his defensive style. He'll have more of a Hopkins-esque decline than say RJJ decline.
