Right, I got you. I wonder about Floyd's adaptation and figuring-out process, or whether it's more of a tactic similar to Pacquiao's approach to the first few rounds of the Cotto fight where the opponent is made to feel comfortable, and then once his confidence has grown his mistakes are exploited. Probably summed up best by the quote from Tsu Sun: "All warfare is based on deception. Even though you are competent, appear to be incompetent. Though effective, appear to be ineffective."I think it's safe to say that Floyd may have some trouble in the beginning since Manny is a southpaw and is, for the most part, a moving target.
My opinion is based on Floyd's tendency to adjust to pressure and figuring out a way to win.
In my honest opinion, I believe Manny will run out of options when Floyd figures out his strategy, and turns the fight into what many would consider a "boring" boxing event.
I didn't say I couldn't be wrong. I just don't think Manny will school him as the title of this thread states.
Personally, I think Pacquiao is too smart to fall into a predictable enough pattern where Floyd could successfully adapt and keep it locked. He may be forced to think faster than what is comfortable. Manny's pace can be overwhelming, and regardless of what Floyd says about Manny being one-dimensional (!), I'm gonna disagree and say he is multi-dimensional. Floyd should realize there's been improvements in Pacquiao since his days of fighting recklessly and being over-aggressive. It's obvious to anyone with half-decent eyesight.
But anyway... regarding "schooling him", I agree, it probably won't apply in a Manny-Floyd fight, because both of them are fluent enough in what they do and neither has an easy style to beat. The one thing that constantly stands out though, is Pacquiao's power. More specifically how it had made his last two opponents crumble, turning both fights around as soon as they were caught (by surprise) with something with intention behind it. It's hard not to believe that Mayweather will be tagged at some point. This is not comparing Hatton or Cotto to Floyd, btw. Just using it as an example of that combination of power with speed, perfectly timed from an unexpected angle. Roach and Pacquiao seem to focus lots on one particular move tailored to the opponent in every fight nowadays, and Manny always manages to pull it off clean. Roach does study hard. I give him props for finding one thing that usually works well.
For me, early success for Mayweather would seem to be the fights' logical introduction, but if he gets tagged... who knows. Pacquiao will be landing shots for sure though.

Agree. The best thing that could ever happen to Floyd is a loss.
Serious, it would make him a better fighter.
