PPV event available worldwide -- an industry first on April 23
Boxing fans will be able to purchase a live ESPN.com Webcast of the April 23 ESPN Pay-Per-View boxing card that features up to 44 rounds of live boxing, including two championship bouts. ESPN.com will feature an identical live feed of the ESPN Pay-Per-View telecast of the four-fight card promoted by Main Events at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas starting at 9 p.m. ET. The Webcast will mark the first time that such a high-profile night of boxing will be carried live online. "We are thrilled to be able to use both our online and television assets to offer this high quality night of boxing," said Matt Murphy, ESPN senior vice president, broadband and interactive sales. “With four great fights on this card, it is an outstanding value for fans.” Added John Kosner, senior vice president, ESPN New Media, “This is another example of the commitment by ESPN.com and the ESPN family of television networks to work together and leverage technological resources to serve fans in every way possible.” The night’s card of boxing will be sold separately online and available to fans for the same $29.95 price as the pay-per-view telecast. Following the fight, the video will be archived and available on-demand to fans who purchased the Webcast until April 30."

Would you guys buy it? I mean i guess theres no point in a way,why watch it on your pc if you can watch it on tv for the same price, but i like this,I might buy it online, i have a crappy tv :P , Actually i cant order the ppv, so if i cant find a webcast the night of the fight,I'll def buy it.

This is a great convenience for those people who don't subscrbe to cable or satellite.

What video size does that broadcast over the web? I can't imagine it being very decent quality for the same $30 that you have to pay on satellite or cable. Also, most people who don't have cable or satellite TV, don't have DSL or cable modems either. I'd hate to imagine trying to watch a live fight over a 56k modem.

In my situation I have a cable modem, but didnt pay for cable. I still get basic cable since they really dont put a filter on it. But, I dont have the box, so I cant order ppv's. I think its a cool idea though, people who are working late can watch it. Places like police station, hospitals, and wherever people are working all night. I am really curious to see what the online buys will be.

Thats pretty much my situation too,i hope the sales are succesfull,It'd be awesome to see more events like this.
